For many years numerous music students (across sectors), teachers, adult beginners, parents, educators, and musicians, have sought advice from me in relation to music tuition, development, and teaching.
Advice has ranged from how do you teach specific content to what should I expect from music lessons for my child. Often times, what starts out as a basic question, evolves into discussion, where the solution might be very different to what had been envisaged.
What these encounters highlight is that sometimes information about a hobby, subject, or lesson can be erroneously assumed. As one of the main purposes of Music Literacy Ireland is to support music educators and students, I have developed an assessment service to offer guidance for those who may find themselves in a similar position. Assessment 1:
Ideal for those looking for guidance regarding music tuition options and avenues to pursue. A consultation online for 30 mins includes discussion and live feedback. Suitable for music students (instrumental, 2nd-level, 3rd-level), adult beginners, parents of younger students, educators in search of CPD.
Assessment 2:
Ideal for those who would like to benchmark/asses their level across different music skills in order to continue to progress or explore new options for music tuition/development. A consultation online for an hour, which includes discussion, written materials, and feedback is provided. Suitable for music students (instrumental, 2nd-level, 3rd-level) and musicians.
Assessment 3:
Ideal for those looking for a detailed assessment of their level and a written report including recommended steps. A consultation online for 1 hour+ using various approaches to test a number of music skills. Preliminary feedback is provided live followed by a written report within 48 hours.
